Xbox Games Showcase Unveils Exciting Lineup: 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 6,' 'Gears of War: E-Day,' 'Doom' Prequel, 'Fable' Reboot, and More
The Xbox Games Showcase kicked off Sunday with the thrilling reveal that 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 6' will launch on October 25, available from Day 1 through the paid Xbox Game Pass subscription. The first gameplay footage was presented by Xbox chief Phil Spencer at the event held at the David Geffen Theater in Los Angeles.
In addition to 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 6,' the showcase revealed 'Gears of War: E-Day,' the 'Doom' prequel 'Doom: The Dark Ages,' and a reboot of the 'Fable' franchise, with the latter two slated for release in 2025.
Following the success of Amazon Prime Video’s 'Fallout' TV series, Xbox announced a new expansion update for Bethesda Studios’ 'Fallout 76,' titled 'Skyline Valley,' releasing on June 12. This update will allow 'Fallout' fans to play as a ghoul character for the first time.
The showcase also featured updates on several other highly anticipated titles, including 'Avowed,' 'State of Decay 3,' EA and Bioware’s 'Dragon Age: The Veilguard,' 'Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred,' 'Starfield: Shattered Space,' 'South of Midnight,' 'Atomfall,' 'World of Warcraft: The War Within,' Konami’s 'Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater' remake, 'Winter Burrow,' 'Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024,' and extended footage from 'Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.'
A significant theme of the showcase was the emphasis on day-and-date availability of new titles on Game Pass, underscoring Microsoft Gaming's commitment to providing immediate access to new games for its subscription service customers.
During the two-hour show, Xbox president Sarah Bond announced digital-only versions of the Xbox Series X and S launching this holiday season and revealed that the company is working on its next generation of consoles. The Xbox Series systems were originally released in November 2020, alongside the PlayStation 5.
The Xbox Games Showcase was part of the larger Summer Game Fest, occurring two days after the festival's main event at the YouTube Theater at SoFi Stadium, which included first looks at Warner Bros. Games’ 'Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions' and PlayStation’s 'Lego Horizon Adventures.'
