Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to debut on October 25th. The latest installment in this popular franchise will take players back to the early ’90s and will be available on Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass subscription service from day one. Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, Black Ops 6 promises a new campaign, multiplayer mode with 16 new maps at launch, and a new zombies experience.
The main campaign, developed by Raven Software, is set after Black Ops Cold War and features flashbacks to Black Ops 2. The narrative unfolds in the early 1990s during the end of the Cold War, taking players to Southern Europe, the Russian Tundra, the US, and the Middle Eastern desert. Players will engage in immersive spy missions and navigate government conspiracies, using ’90s gadgets and equipment. Iconic characters like Frank Woods and Russell Adler return, and a new safehouse—an abandoned manor and KGB black site—serves as the campaign hub where players can configure upgrades and select missions.
In multiplayer, Black Ops 6 introduces an “omnimovement” feature, allowing players greater control over their movements, including sprinting, sliding, and diving in any direction, with the ability to rotate while prone. Treyarch has developed 16 new maps for launch, including 12 core 6vs6 maps and four strike maps for 2vs2 or 6vs6 modes. The Classic Prestige system makes a comeback, offering enhanced progression and rewards.
Zombies fans will be pleased to see the return of the round-based mode, featuring two new maps at launch and a variety of weapons and upgrades to combat waves of the undead.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PS4, PS5, and PC on October 25th, with Xbox Game Pass subscribers getting access on day one across PC and Xbox.
