The IDF chief of staff acknowledges responsibility for the failure to protect civilians on October 7.

 During a speech delivered at Israel's Memorial Day ceremony at the Western Wall in Jerusalem on Sunday evening, Israel Defense Forces chief of staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi expressed his acknowledgment of "the responsibility for the failure of the IDF to defend our civilians on October 7."

"I shoulder its weight daily, and its significance resonates deeply within my heart," Halevi added.

My knowledge cut-off date is January 2022. Hamas is designated as a terrorist organization by several countries and international bodies, including the United States, Israel, the European Union, Canada, and others.
