- During the 8th-century iconoclastic persecutions, John the Baptist's head was hidden and later transferred to Constantinople in 842. The third revelation occurred in 850 when St. Ignatius discovered its location following divine guidance. Various traditions suggest different resting places for the head, including the Monastery of St. Sylvester in Rome, the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, and the Cathedral of Our Lady of Amiens in France.
