Wife Pays Tribute To “Wonderful” TV Presenter After Body Found On Greek Island

Michael Mosley's Wife Pays Tribute After Body Found on Greek Island of Symi**

Michael Mosley's wife has released a heartfelt statement paying tribute to her TV presenter husband after a body was found on the Greek island of Symi.

“I don’t know quite where to begin with this. It’s devastating to have lost Michael, my wonderful, funny, kind, and brilliant husband. We had an incredibly lucky life together,” said Clare Bailey Mosley. “We loved each other very much and were so happy together. I am incredibly proud of our children, their resilience and support over the past days.

“My family and I have been hugely comforted by the outpouring of love from people around the world. It’s clear that Michael meant a huge amount to so many of you. We’re taking comfort in the fact that he so very nearly made it. He did an incredible climb, took the wrong route, and collapsed where he couldn’t be easily seen by the extensive search team.

“Michael was an adventurous man; it’s part of what made him so special. We are so grateful to the extraordinary people on Symi who have worked tirelessly to help find him. Some of these people on the island, who hadn’t even heard of Michael, worked from dawn till dusk unasked. We’re also very grateful to the press, who have dealt with us with great respect.

“I feel so lucky to have our children and my amazing friends. Most of all, I feel so lucky to have had this life with Michael. Thank you all.”

**Previously – 1.17am PT, June 9:** A body has been found in the search for TV presenter Michael Mosley on a Greek island, according to the BBC.

The BBC reported that the body was discovered by multiple sources, including the island’s mayor, who has been part of the search effort on Symi since Mosley went missing four days ago. Authorities, Mosley’s family, and volunteers have also been searching for the TV presenter, believing he was in a remote mountainous area. A police source told the BBC the body, which is yet to be formally identified, had been dead “for a number of days.”

The news comes shortly after Mosley’s wife, Clare Bailey, issued a statement saying, “We will not lose hope.”

Mosley, 67, vanished after setting off from a beach on the island on Wednesday afternoon. The couple have four children, who traveled to the island to assist in the search.

Mosley is one of the UK’s best-known TV presenters, renowned for his work in nutrition and health documentaries after starting his career as a producer at the BBC. He is the author of several health books and is credited with creating the popular 5:2 diet, which involves reducing calorie intake on two days each week. He also hosts the BBC podcast "The One Thing" about physical and mental health.

His wife’s earlier statement read: “It has been three days since Michael left the beach to go for a walk. The longest and most unbearable days for myself and my children. The search is ongoing and our family is so incredibly grateful to the people of Symi, the Greek authorities, and the British Consulate who are working tirelessly to help find Michael.”
