Sarah Bracke, a Professor of Sociology at the University of Amsterdam, discussed with Al Jazeera the student and staff protests in the Netherlands against Israel's war on Gaza.
Bracke highlighted instances where staff from three higher education institutions in Amsterdam observed police using forceful tactics to disperse a peaceful student encampment the previous Monday. She emphasized that today's staff protests aim to end the university's complicity in what she described as "the ongoing genocide" in Gaza, while also condemning the violent methods employed by the police to suppress peaceful demonstrations.
Additionally, Bracke pointed out that Jewish staff and student protesters were subjected to police violence, despite educational institutions asserting that police presence is necessary to ensure the safety of Jewish students on campus.
