Manchester United's victory against Newcastle represents a rare positive moment for Ten Hag.

In Manchester, manager Erik ten Hag found a rare moment of joy as his Manchester United side clinched a 3-2 victory over Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Wednesday. Amid ongoing debates and speculations about his managerial position, Ten Hag's team secured only their third Premier League win in nearly three months. Goals from Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo, and Rasmus Højlund, coupled with the return of key players like Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, and Lisandro Martínez from injury, contributed to the triumph.

With one match remaining, Manchester United's victory keeps alive their hopes of finishing in the top seven and qualifying for European competition through league standings. Additionally, it injects a glimmer of hope that their season, marred by disappointments, could end on a positive note with an upcoming FA Cup final against Manchester City.

However, whether these achievements are sufficient to secure Ten Hag's tenure remains uncertain, with only the new club investors having insight into such decisions. Ten Hag expressed satisfaction with the team's performance against Newcastle, acknowledging the challenges posed by the physicality of their opponents while highlighting the positive aspects of their play.

Despite the victory, Manchester United's season has been fraught with challenges, and questions remain regarding certain player selections and performances. Ten Hag defended his decision to give Amad Diallo a chance, praising the Ivorian's resilience and progress. Diallo's impactful contributions, including an assist and a goal against Newcastle, have bolstered his case for inclusion in future matches.

The support for Diallo from the stadium crowd, coupled with chants in support of the manager, underscored the mixed sentiments among fans regarding Ten Hag's future. While the victory against Newcastle provides temporary relief, the club's decision on Ten Hag's continuation is likely to be deferred until after the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Following the conclusion of the match against Newcastle, Ten Hag addressed the fans from the pitch's center, pledging that "these players will give their all to secure the cup." His speech was warmly received, and after completing a lap around the stadium, Ten Hag departed through the tunnel amidst applause from the remaining supporters.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by the fans throughout the season, Ten Hag expressed his gratitude for their unwavering support. Whether this sentiment influences Ratcliffe's decision remains uncertain.

Despite numerous setbacks, there's a valid argument for Ten Hag's dismissal. However, with games remaining, notably the upcoming cup final against Manchester City, Ten Hag still has opportunities to shift the conversation in his favor.

While a narrow victory over Newcastle may not sway everyone, there's a glimmer of hope that the season, which has been largely forgettable, could end on a positive note.

Reflecting on the season thus far, Ten Hag refrained from boasting, acknowledging the disappointment shared by all. Nevertheless, he emphasized the possibility of securing a trophy amidst the season's challenges.
