Kelly Rowland seemed to have a disagreement with a Cannes red carpet usher after being hurried up the stairs.

Kelly Rowland appeared to exchange words with a Cannes red carpet usher on Tuesday evening after being hurried up the stairs by staff at the festival.

Rowland was attending the premiere of "Marcello Mio," a film in competition at the festival. As she made her way up the red carpet, she paused for the photographers capturing her image.

Video footage shows an usher gesturing towards Rowland, seemingly indicating for her to move along. As Rowland ascends the stairs, three more ushers, all dressed in black, converge around her, creating a barrier on one side that guides her to the right of the staircase.

At one moment, as Rowland turns to acknowledge someone in the crowd behind her, two additional ushers appear behind her, extending their hands to obstruct her view and encourage her to continue up the stairs.

One of the ushers, a woman in a black suit, keeps her arm extended very close to Rowland's back. Rowland touches the usher's outstretched arm with a smile, as if to signal that it's unnecessary, and proceeds purposefully up the stairs.

However, the usher maintains her arm aloft with her fingers spread out near Rowland's back. Rowland then appears to address the usher. As Rowland departs the stairs and enters the Palais, the usher repeats the gesture with a woman who seems to be accompanying Rowland.

The Cannes Film Festival is renowned for its stringent red carpet protocols, including its dress code. In the past, there were reports of women being barred from the Cannes red carpet for not wearing heels, although this policy has since been revised following criticism during the 2015 edition.

Cannes also implemented a ban on selfies on the red carpet in 2018, with officials citing the need to streamline the flow of guests entering the Palais.

Guests who linger for too long on the red carpet are also ushered along. In 2013, socialite Lady Victoria Hervey, a regular attendee of Cannes, was reportedly instructed to move after spending an extended period posing for photographers outside the Palais.

A spokesperson for Cannes declined to provide a comment on the incident. Representatives for Rowland did not respond before the time of publication
