Iranian officials announced that Iranian President Ibrahim Reisi and Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Emir Abdullahian lost their lives.
The helicopter Reisi was on crashed on the way back from Azerbaijan on Sunday evening.

Akıncı UAV, which Turkey assigned to the search activities regarding the helicopter crash involving the Iranian President and some officials, detected the heat source, which was thought to be the wreckage of the helicopter, and shared its coordinates with the Iranian authorities.
Elections are expected to be held within 50 days
Speaking to Reuters and requesting anonymity, the senior official stated that President Reisi and all the passengers on the helicopter died.
According to the information provided by another Iranian official, the helicopter carrying Reisi and Emir Abdullahian was completely burned in the accident.

Following the death of the leader, Vice President Muhammed Muhbir is expected to take over the executive duty according to the Iranian constitution, and presidential elections are expected to be held within 50 days.
Iranian spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated in his statement after the accident that there would be no disruption in the functioning of the country.
US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer stated that there was no indication of an assassination based on intelligence officials. Reisi, the representative of Iran's conservative wing, was seen as the successor of the country's spiritual leader, Khamenei.
