The commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's Air Force stated that Israel had reached out to Tehran, advising against retaliation for the embassy attack in Damascus last April. Amir Ali Hajizadeh further mentioned that Tel Aviv had indicated a willingness to make concessions in Gaza to prevent an Iranian reprisal. These communications, according to Zadeh, were conveyed through the Egyptian foreign minister.
The assault claimed the life of Quds Force commander Mohammad Reza Zahedi in Lebanon and Syria, along with seven other Revolutionary Guards members. Iran's Ambassador to Syria, Hossein Akbari, accused Israel of orchestrating the attack and issued a stern warning of retaliation. Approximately two weeks later, Tehran launched over 300 ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones towards Israel.
